Security update on our roads   [24.10.11]

There  are new dangerous spots that have emerged on our roads and motorists are encouraged to be very alert as they drive in these areas.

Museum Hill

The new road from Uhuru Highway leading up towards Forest Road has witnessed an increase in attacks on cars at night. Cases have been reported of cars being attacked by gangs of youth on the stretch directly off the highway (at old Museum Hill roundabout) heading round and up towards Forest road from about 2200hrs.

The layout of the road and the speed bumps make the area a target for attacks as vehicles slow down.

On the same note, there have been several reports of offenders deliberately ramming vehicles in order to rob or car-jack the driver as the victims step out of the vehicle to inspect the damage.

Please pay close attention to your surroundings at all times. If you are involved in an accident, assess whether it is really necessary to get out of your vehicle or if perhaps it is would be better to drive onto the nearest Police station.

Westlands Roundabout

Reports of attacks on cars at Westlands roundabout have increased. Mobile phones and handbags have been stolen through open car windows.

Ensure that your car windows are closed, all doors are locked and bags as well as valuables remain out of sight. They should be kept either behind the front seat or in the boot.

Police officers have also confirmed reported cases of the same nature.

You are therefore urged to take extra caution and inform your families and friends.
